Seed Vault NFT Showcases Mugunghwa at Arte Museum
Dunamu Launches Seed Vault NFT Collection Season 2
Blockchain and fintech company Dunamu (CEO Lee Seok-woo) announced the opening of the ‘Seed Vault NFT Collection Season 2’ on August 5th.
The event includes the introduction of the Seed (SEED) Pavilion at the Arte Museum in Busan.
The Seed Pavilion is the first immersive media art exhibition in Korea to feature the ‘Mugunghwa’ (Hibiscus) as its main theme. This exhibit is part of the Arte Museum’s “Eternal Nature” series, which has been viewed by 7 million people worldwide. The exhibition will run for two months, ending on September 30th, and aims to promote biodiversity and convey a message of hope for a sustainable future.
The Seed Vault NFT Collection is a unique ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) project by Dunamu focused on preserving the Earth’s ecosystem.
Season 1 was conducted in collaboration with the Environmental Foundation and the Korea Arboretum and Garden Management Service (Hannam). The project uses the uniqueness and non-fungibility of NFTs to raise awareness about the rarity and value of plant resources and encourage efforts to protect and preserve them. The NFTs are created using images of seeds stored in the world’s only wild plant seed preservation facility, the Baekdu-daegan Global Seed Vault, operated by Hannam, and are issued via the Upbit NFT platform.
The Seed Vault NFT Collection aims to enhance community engagement and provide continuous rewards to participants through Web 3.0 NFTs. Holders (owners) can participate directly in environmental protection activities. During Season 1, holders took part in various missions related to biodiversity, leading to the establishment of the first preservation area for rare and indigenous plants at the Shin-gu University Arboretum.
The key theme for Season 2 is ‘expansion’. Dunamu has collaborated with digital design and art company d’strict to bridge the gap between advanced technology and the real environment, expanding the project’s scope to offline exhibits. By showcasing NFTs as media art, the project breaks the boundaries of traditional ESG efforts and broadens public participation.
The main theme for Seed Vault NFT Collection Season 2 is the ‘Mugunghwa’. Participants can complete online and offline missions to acquire NFTs representing different growth stages of the Mugunghwa: seed, germination, and bloom. The project will culminate with the planting of actual Mugunghwa at the Jinhae Botanic Museum.
Season 2 has already garnered significant interest, with pre-drop events for existing Seed Vault NFT Season 1 holders selling out quickly. Even those who missed the pre-drops can join the project by visiting the Seed Pavilion at the Arte Museum in Busan. Visitors can scan QR codes to obtain Seed NFTs and can also complete various missions, such as verifying their visit on social media, to receive additional rewards like museum tickets and limited edition Mugunghwa hand cream.
For those unable to visit in person, there are alternative missions, such as submitting photos of Mugunghwa or completing biodiversity quizzes, with prizes including MacBook Airs, iPad Airs, and Shinsegae gift cards. More details can be found on the Seed Vault NFT Collection project website and Instagram (@seedvaultnft).
Lee Seok-woo, CEO of Dunamu, stated, “The Seed Vault NFT Collection project demonstrates how technological advancements can contribute positively to environmental protection.” He added, “Dunamu will continue to explore various possibilities of technology to support ecosystem conservation and sustainable development for future generations.”
As part of the project, a plogging event will be held on August 17-18 at Songdo Beach in Busan. Participants can clean up the beach while walking or jogging and will receive Arte Museum Busan tickets and various eco-friendly gifts like shampoo bars and organic hand towels as rewards.
